Dothan PD Arrests Three In Recent Missing Juvenile Case

On February 21, 2013 the Dothan Police Department released information in reference to the search of amissing juvenile Cameyhia Powell.

Investigators with the assistance of the Houston County Sheriff's Office and Dale County Sherriff's Air Unit worked tirelessly through the night in an effort to locate and return Powell home safely.

On February 22, 2013 investigators were informed that Powell had been located and taken to the Dothan office of the Department of Human Resources by a family member. Officer's continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding Powell's disappearance and have now learned that the child was taken by family members over custody issues with Powell's mother.

 

The Dothan Police Department have now arrested and charged Meghon Moreno, Lawanda Coston and Faye Powell each with Interference with Custody. These three subjects knowingly conspired to take Powell from her legal guardian and conceal her whereabouts during the resulting police investigation.

 

Chief Greg Benton would like to thank the Houston and Dale County Sheriff's Office for their assistance during this investigation.

 

     Meghon Elena Moreno, white female, 28 years of age, of Blissett Drive was arrested and charged with Interference with Custody. Bond has been set at $15,000.

 

     Lawanda Mozelle Coston, black female, 32 years of age, of South Lena Street was arrested and charged with Interference with Custody. Bond has been set at $15,000.

 

     Wanda Faye Powell, black female, 51 years of age, of South Lena Street was arrested and charged with Interference with Custody. Bond has been set at $15,000.

 

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
