If you live around the Chattahoochee River Basin you need to get prepared for possible flooding. The Chattahoochee is expected to crest around 10AM Tuesday morning. To get prepared for possible flooding, Houston County leaders met Monday afternoon to discuss an evacuation plan.

There are about 50 homes in the Columbia and Gordon areas that have a history of flooding. Those homeowners should start moving their belongings to higher ground as soon as possible.

Dothan Fire Marshal Chris Etheredge was also at Monday's meeting. He encouraged homeowners to get prepared now. "Don't wait until the last minute. Don't wait until all the roads are flooded and you're barricaded in your own home and then it turns into a rescue mission," said Etheredge.

The projections for Tuesday are between 106 and 117 feet. If the river gets that high, Etheredge said the area could see significant flooding.
