Claire Redmon Gannon of Enterprise, AL passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Enterprise. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 22, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Lawrence Phipps and Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. A private burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 302 North Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330 or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.
Claire lived her entire life in Enterprise, AL as a loving and generous wife, mother, and grandmother. She was selfless and unconditional with her love to family and friends alike. A lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, she was serious in her faith and love of our Lord.
Claire was a major sports fan, especially enjoying college football and golf. Despite sending three sons to the University of Alabama, she cheered for a "different school".
Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her, and her family rejoices at her entry into Heaven.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Claire is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Herbert H. Gannon, Sr.; three sons, Dr. Herbert H. Gannon, Jr. (Toye); Frank Gannon (Jan); Dr. Tim Gannon (Kathy); eight grandchildren, Ginger (Dr. John) Myers; Russell (Melanie) Gannon; Brad Gannon; Grant (Millie) Gannon; William (Bethany) Gannon; James (Amy Kathryn) Gannon; David Gannon; Kathryn Monroe; seven great-grandchildren with more to come; one brother, Burt (Michelle) Redmon; several nieces and nephews.
The family extends our profound gratitude to the multitude of people who have loved on her and us during her progressive dementia. We specifically mention Sandra Pugh and Yvonne Williams for their graciousness. Many thanks to the wonderful care of Deborah Hussey RN, the Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center and the blessing of Covenant Hospice care.
Finally, we extend gratefulness to her physicians, Dr. Ben Martin, Dr. Allen Latimer, Dr. Ann McDowell, Dr. Beverly Jordan, and especially the love and care of the late Dr. Steve Sherrer.
