Could Sunday alcohol sales soon be in Dothan's future?

Following Tuesday's Dothan Commission meeting, the issue came up for discussion during the administrative meeting...and there was a standing room only crowd to hear what was said.

Commissioner Hamp Baxley brought the issue to the table. Baxley said he was approached by several in the community including business leaders who want to see the sale of alcohol seven days a week in Dothan stores. Alcohol can already be purchased in local restaurants on Sundays.

The issue was met with much opposition from area ministers.

The issue was pushed forward by the commission to their next regular scheduled meeting on March 5. If the commission were to approve the measure in front of them, they would pass an ordinance seeking a referendum on the next city election ballot allowing Dothan voters to decide the issue.

To hear reaction from today's meeting watch the video above.
