By: Ken Curtis
Updated: February 15, 2013

The news director of WTVY television station died Friday morning of an apparent heart attack.  Jeff Raker collapsed shortly after arriving at the station and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Raker, according to information from the website LinkedIn, returned to Dothan in April 2012 to begin his second stint as the station's news director.  He previously worked there from 1997-1999.  He also served as news director at several other stations including Youngtown, OH, Jefferson City, MO. and Sioux Falls, Iowa.

Facebook pages of WTVY employees show Raker is survived by his wife, Darcy, and two children.  He is believed to be about 53 years old.

WDHN and DothanFirst.com would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Raker family and the staff of WTVY.
