Dorothy Quick Senior Center Needs More Space

All the activities are held in the church's dining hall and that's not enough room. Dorothy Dutton, who stops by the center everyday, said they're limited to just playing bingo because the space is too small.
"We used to quilt but every time the church had a meeting they had to move it,"said Dutton. "If anyone quilts they know when you move a quilt it gets saggy and baggy. We've heard promises and promises from the city. They say they're going to do something and somehow we get bypassed."
City Commissioner Hamp Baxley said, if funding permits, Dorothy Quick will move. Baxley said the plan includes moving to the Westgate Fire Station and allowing the center to operate out of the building after it is closed.
"Our hope is that maybe that property could be reconfigured and that could be a senior center," continued Baxley.
