Christine Snellgrove Raybon

Christine Snellgrove Raybon, a resident of Ashford, died early Thursday morning, February 7, 2013, at her home. She was 85.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 9, 2013, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church, near Headland, with Reverend Norman C. Simmons and Reverend Earl Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery in Webb. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary. At other times, the family will be at the home of a granddaughter, Cindy Wilson, 8220 County Road 55, Headland.

            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Alacare Hospice, In Memory of Christine Raybon, 3379 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36305-1018.

            Mrs. Raybon was born and reared in Henry County, near Headland, daughter of the late Hezzie Carr Snellgrove and Beatrice Farmer Snellgrove. She lived near Headland most of her adult lifetime and also lived at White Oak Creek on Lake Eufaula before moving to Ashford in 2005. Mrs. Raybon was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Raybon, three sons, Ronald Edward Raybon, Ray Stephen Raybon and Michael Wayne Raybon, four sisters, Ruthell Raley, Martha Kate Eldridge, Mary Alice Blair, and Ethel Raley, and three brothers, Tom Snellgrove, Ned Parker, and Cordell Parker.

            Surviving relatives include two sons, Randy Raybon and wife, Brenda, Dothan; Terry Raybon and wife, JoAnn, Ashford; a sister, Betty McCraney (Foy), Columbia; a brother, Durelle Snellgrove, (Linda), Headland; a sister-in-law, Aline Snellgrove, Headland; five grandchildren, Cindy Wilson, Wendy Eubanks (Brent), Scott Raybon (Becca), April Alford (Keith), and Josh Raybon; twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
