Albert P. Murphy

Mr. Albert P. Murphy of the Fadette Community went home to be with the
Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at a local hospital. He was
92.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday,
February 8, in New Hinson Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Hubbard and Rev. Alfred
Long officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells
Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Mr. Murphy will be placed in the church one
hour prior to service time.
The family will receive friends at
the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mr.
Murphy was born on September 4, 1920 in Geneva County, AL to the late Metzker
and Mary Pearl Lassiter Murphy. He was a member of New Hinson Baptist Church.
After retiring from Hedstrom Union, he farmed and gardened for many years. It
was always a joy to grow and give vegetables to his family and
neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers:
Broward and Jim Murphy; two sons-in-law: Ray Ward and Dan
Wack.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Margie Kirkland
Murphy of Fadette; three daughters: Linda Edmondson (Charlie) of Wicksburg,
Wanda Key (Phillip) and Janice Wack all of Fadette; two sons: Jerry Murphy
(Myra) and Carl Murphy (Dottie) all of Fadette; 12 grandchildren; 16 great
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Murphy's grandsons
will serve as pallbearers.
