House Speaker Hubbard Speaker Issues Statement on AEA and School Flexibility Bill

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: February 5, 2013
Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn) today released the following statement in response to Dr. Henry Mabry's press conference this morning:

"Every major group working to improve education in Alabama has endorsed this bill because they understand the cookie cutter approach hasn't worked and local officials know best what their schools need.  Henry Mabry, in his role as union boss,  is simply defending the same broken status quo that has failed Alabama's children and their parents for decades. Republicans are fighting for local control of schools, while the AEA demands union control of schools."

EDITOR'S NOTE - The following organizations have endorsed the School Flexibility Act:

               The School Superintendents of Alabama
               Alabama Association of School Boards
Alabama Association of School Business Officials
Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools
               A+
               Business Council of Alabama,
State Superintendent of Education Tommy Bice
