Jean Commander Smith of Geneva, born September 19, 1922, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Graceville Nursing Home. She was 90 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Jimmy Mashburn officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Head United Methodist Church Cemetery with Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J D and Julia Commander; her first husband, John D. Smith; her second husband, Adolph Owens; her sister, Ruth Owen; four brothers, Lester Hickman Commander, Rex Commander, Carlton Commander, and Shelly Commander.
She is survived by two children, Johnny Ray (Jo) Smith and Brenda Joyce (Fletcher) Arrington; three grandchildren, Tim (Jerri) Arrington, Chadwick (Hillary) Smith, and Shannon Minniefield; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Sensel, Jasmine Minniefield, Jamison Minniefield, Jalen Minniefield, Chloe Smith, and Chandler Smith; one great-great-grandchild, Bayleigh Brooks; three brothers, Bruce (Evelyn) Commander, Coleman (Pauline) Commander, and Buck (Mary) Commander; several extended family members and friends.
