Scott Meadows spoke to the middle school and high school boys in Slocomb's gymnasium on Thursday morning, alerting them of his future plans.

Meadows was named the Red Tops new head football coach a couple of days ago and he says he is grateful for the foundation Mike Bennefield laid out with the team.

"I'm extremely excited to be here. Like I said, coach Bennefield did an outstanding job. This is not a job that you have to come in and rebuild anything. This is a job that you can continue to build on his successes."

Meadows takes over a Red Tops football program that went 14-7, with back-to-back first round state playoff appearances under his predecessor.

Also, Ben Thompson spoke briefly with the kids as well. Thompson is the school's new head baseball coach. He says he could not be happier to finally be in charge of his own team.

"I'm just grateful that the people here want me here. It's nice to feel part of a family. It's got great community support, great school system, great kids, and I just look forward to being here a long time guiding this program."

Thompson has been at Enterprise High School the last fifteen years as an assistant baseball coach and head softball coach.

He becomes Slocomb's fifth head baseball coach in the last five seasons.
