Jeenie Weems Hicks

Jennie Weems Hicks, a resident of Haleburg, died late Tuesday afternoon, January 15, 2013, at her home. She was 87.


            Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, January 17, 2013, in the Haleburg Cemetery with Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


            Ms. Hicks was a lifelong resident of Haleburg, Alabama, daughter of the late George Washington Weems and Etha Lee Strickland Weems. She was retired from West Point Stevens in Abbeville as a sewing machine operator after thirty-four years employment. Ms. Hicks was preceded in death by three sisters, Sue Diane Weems, Leavonia Fleming and Annette Spencer, and two brothers, Richard Weems and Douglas McArthur Weems.


            Surviving relatives include her son, James Walter Hicks, Jr. (Jimmy) and wife, Raquel Gonzalez, Haleburg; a sister, Linda Price and husband, Frankie, Haleburg; a brother-in-law, Leonard Spencer, Rolla, MO; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
