After months of planning, the Dothan Education Foundation announced Wednesday to WDHN that bestselling author, Leigh Anne Tuohy, will be the keynote speaker for the organization's inaugural fundraiser event.

Dothan Education Foundation President, Tami Culver said she's excited about the announcement. "Leigh Anne Tuohy comes in and tells her story of giving back to the community and working with what you have and it's such an amazing, uplifting story. I can't wait for Dothan to be inspired by her words," said Culver.

Tuohy is scheduled to speak at the Dothan Civic Center on March 7th at 7 p.m. The Education Foundation will also sell tickets for a meet and greet that will begin at 6:15 p.m.

All proceeds from this event will go back to the Dothan Education Foundation, which Culver said needs community support.
"Since the merger of "Yes We Can Dothan" and the "Adopt A School Program" our operational budgets have increased and we are trying to increase the programs we provide, but we need the community's help," continued Culver.

This is the first time the organization has reached out to the community for financial support, but they hope with a speaker like Leigh Anne Tuohy, they will also be giving something back.
"It's a win-win for our foundation and also the community. I think everyone's going to leave that event thinking what can I do? For the Dothan Education Foundation to empower our community like that, just think of the things we can accomplish," explained Culver.

Tickets will start at $25 and be on sale through the Civic Center beginning February 4th. You can also get tickets by calling the Dothan Education Foundation at 794-6585 or by emailing Tami@dothaneducationfoundation.org.
