Dothan Police Arrest Man Trying To Steal From Sears

On January 10, 2013 the Dothan Police Department responded to a report of a theft in progress at Sears, located at 662 West Main Street.

Upon arrival, patrolmen learned loss prevention employees confronted the suspect as he fled from the business in possession of stolen merchandise and recovered the merchandise but were unable to detain the suspect.

The employee gave a detailed description of the suspect who was then located by alert patrolmen a few blocks away. The man was identified as Clemitay Helms and was additionally charged with a theft committed against the store in December during which loss prevention employees were unable to detain him but were able to document the theft and identify him as the same suspect. Both cases have now been closed following the arrest.

 

     Clemitay Helms, black male, 33 years of age, of West Burdeshaw Street was arrested and charged with two counts of Second Degree Theft of Property with bonds totaling $30,000. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
