Sara McBryde Jordan

Sara McBryde Jordan, a resident of Headland, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Flowers Hospital. She was 86.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel on West Main Street with Rev. Jack Wingate  and Rev. Donald Hall officiating. A private burial will be held in Tallahassee, Florida. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time on Wednesday.

Mrs. Jordan was born June 2, 1926, the daughter of Samuel Rufus and Gertrude Brook McBryde in the Rose Hill Community and lived the early years of her life there. She graduated from Straughn High School in Andalusia and then moved to Montgomery where she met and married Aaron Jordan. They resided in Tallahassee for 34 years before moving to Headland 21 years ago. Mrs. Jordan was employed as a bookkeeper with an accounting firm for over 20 years. She was especially fond of her two grandchildren.

Mrs. Jordan is predeceased by three brothers, Raymond McBryde, Willford McBryde and Byron McBryde.

Survivors include her husband, R. Aaron Jordan of Headland; a daughter, Patricia J. Dean and her husband, Dr. Mark F. Dean of Dothan; two grandsons who were the light of her life,  Dr. Phillip J. Dean and his wife, Jennifer of Charleston, SC and Benjamin E. Dean of Charlotte, NC.
