Ruby Hazel Woodham Hughes, 92, of Dothan passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 am Friday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jason Hughes officiating. Graveside services will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until 11 am Friday.
Mrs. Hughes was born April 30, 1920 in Geneva County and she resided the early years of her life in Geneva. She resided in Panama City, Florida for 20 years prior to moving to Dothan in 1970. She owned and operated Maico Hearing Aid Center in Northside Mall for several years and retired in 1981. Mrs. Hughes is a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents Auzy and Anna Woodham, her former husband Shellie Curenton, and a grandson Jeremy Bruce.
Survivors include her husband Bibb G. Hughes of Dothan; daughters, Sheila (Robert) Flynt of Enterprise, and Cathy (Gary) Bruce of Dothan; grandchildren, Heather (Joe) Brooks of Birmingham, and Shelley Bradley of Enterprise; great-grandchildren, Anna Claire Brooks, J. Cole Brooks, and Taylor Morgan Bruce; a step-son Bibb (Pam) Hughes, Jr. of Echo; step-daughters, Marcia (David Wood) Hughes of Daleville, Karen (Larry) Williams of Newton, and Paula (Terry) Teeter of Ozark; step-grandchildren, Brad Williams, Travis Williams, Karie Striplin, Maggi Miller, Betsy Miller, Erika Burns, Ned Carter, Jason Hughes, Amber Hughes, and Haley Hughes; 11 step-great-grandchildren; a sister Frances Young; brothers, Wayne (Eloise) Woodham, Billie Woodham, and Lester (Ottillie) Woodham; several nieces and nephews also survive.
