People across the Wiregrass saluted veterans for their sacrifices and their service to our country.

From the United States Marines to the Air force, every branch of the military was honored at a ceremony on Monday in Dothan

It was part of an annual VFW Veterans Day ceremony.

Veterans who attended the ceremony like retired Marine Al Chancey said they were touched by the efforts of those who came.

"It touches my heart so deeply because of the commitment that the veterans have made. Not many people understand those dedications and commitments," said Chancey.

A wreath was laid in honor of fallen marine Jason Barfield from Ashford. Barfield's parents, Kelli and Ray, were on hand for the ceremony.

Kelli Barfield said, ""It's because of him and so many others that have given their all for us so that we can be here today so that we can go to church. They are the ones that paid the ultimate price."

Also honored Monday were the Patriot Guard Riders for their continued service to the community.
