Former Contracting Executive Avoids Prison On Theft Charges

The former owner of a construction contracting business in Dothan has avoided prison and, instead, been ordered to serve probation for theft convictions.

Samuel Martin McCall, 50, was indicted in May, 2011 on charges he bilked two people out of money in relation to his now defunct business. McCall, earlier this year, was convicted in one case and admitted guilt in the other.

McCall was also ordered to pay restitution totaling more than $52,000 and, additionally, fines and other costs. In all, Circuit Judge J. Michael Conaway ordered McCall to pay almost $57,000.

McCall will serve 46 months on probation, according to court records.
