William Royce (Roy) Davis

William Royce (Roy) Davis, a resident of Ashford, went to his heavenly home, Wednesday morning, October 17, 2012. He was 66.

            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 20, 2012, in the New Freedom Church in Webb, Alabama, with Pastor Larry Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery - East, Abbeville, Alabama. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, PO Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.

            Mr. Davis, son of the late James Coleman Davis and Laura Louise Peterson Davis, was born in Henry County, near Newville. He was a 1965 graduate of Ashford High School and served in the Army National Guard in the Ashford unit. Mr. Davis was a member of the New Freedom Church in Webb. He formerly lived in Panama City and Pensacola, Florida, as well as Dothan, before moving to Ashford in 2008. Mr. Davis retired from Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse in Dothan as the Warehouse Manager after thirty years employment.  He is preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Davis MacAloney; one sister, Katherine Davis; three brothers, Earl Davis, Gene Davis and James Davis.

            Surviving relatives include his former wife, Rachel Smith Davis, Cowarts; a daughter, Tina Ann Joyner and husband, Dewayne, Ashford; a sister, Frances Davis, Cowarts; a brother, Loyce Davis, Cowarts; eight grandchildren, Marcas Lisenby, Brandon Joyner, James Lisenby, Patricia Hale (Thomas), Farha MacAloney; Daniel MacAloney, Jr. (Monica), Elijah MacAloney (Stacy), and Isaac MacAloney (Hannah);five great-grandchildren, Danielle MacAloney, Miriam MacAloney, Angel Hale, Kelsey Hale and Elizabeth MacAloney; several nieces and nephews.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Dave Ward, Chris Davis, Michael Davis, Jeff Davis, Jessie Poitivient, and Bob Negley.
