There's new information in the police involved shooting in Kinsey on Tuesday. The Houston County Sheriff's office reported 32- year-old Bethany Ann Burgess of Kinsey attempted to break in to a home on Lynn Jarvis Road.

Sheriff Andy Hughes said the woman drove her car in the direction of a Kinsey police officer and that's when Hughes said the officer fired at the woman striking her.

A short police chase ensued where Burgess stopped her car on Walden Drive.

Neighbors like William Cruz aren't surprised by what happened on Tuesday. Cruz said home break-in's are on the rise.

Cruz said, "I don't feel comfortable. I have to go out to Eufaula for my church three days a week so I'm worried about that. I've lived here three years and last year someone broke into my house that's why I have to put up new doors and a new screen door."

Hughes said deputies have responded to several break-ins over the last few months. Hughes said Burgess could be connected to more burglaries cases in Kinsey.

"This suspect that was shot yesterday we were actually looking for her to question her because she was a suspect in previous burglary," said Hughes in an interview on Wednesday,

When released from the hospital, Hughes said Burgess will be charged with 2nd degree burglary.
