Jane Espy

Miss Jane Espy, a resident of Abbeville, died early Monday morning, September 10, 2012, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 95.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 12, 2012, in the Old Abbeville City Cemetery with Ronnie Marshall officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 12:45 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL. 36310 or to the Jane Espy Scholarship Fund, c/o Betty Farmer, 100 Alberta Drive, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Miss Espy was born and reared in Abbeville, daughter of the late Joseph Cleodus Espy, Sr. and Idelle Clark Espy. A lifelong resident of Abbeville, she was a graduate of Abbeville High School. Miss Espy began her formal education at Troy University where she earned an Associate Degree in Education. She also graduated from both the University of Alabama with a B.S. Degree in Education and Auburn University with her A.A. in Education. Miss Espy retired from the Henry County School System after over forty years of teaching. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma and was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she served in numerous capacities. Miss Espy was preceded in death by three sisters, Rupert Espy Aman, Agartha Espy Miller and Esther Espy Gray and five brothers, Robert Espy, Clark Espy, Tom Espy, Herbert Espy and Reverend Jack Espy.
Survivingare several nieces and nephews including, Jo Ann Woods and husband, Charles, Albertville, AL; Joe Espy and wife, Katie, Montgomery;James Espy Gray and wife, Linda Fay, Donalsonville, GA; several great-nieces and great-nephews including, Jane Espy Gamble and husband, Mark, Headland.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Money, Bobby Joe Espy, Russell Wood, Lamar Wilkinson, Harold Robison and Robert Murphy.
