Steven Wesley Slaughter

Steven Wesley Slaughter, of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012. He was 63.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Evergreen Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Evergreen Presbyterian Church.

Steve was born November 20, 1948 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but spent most of his life in Dothan. After graduating in 1968 from Dothan High School, he attended Wallace College and later graduated from Jacksonville State. Steve proudly served his country for three years in the U.S. Marine Corp.

With every challenge Steve faced in life, he faced it with humility, resilience, and a big smile. Even in adversity, Steve was always willing to help someone who might even have it worse. Steve was loved dearly by his family and friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Denley Slaughter and by his grandparents, Walter and Myrtle Slaughter and George and Blanche Denley.

Survivors include his father, Clarence Wesley Slaughter; brothers, Mike Slaughter and Terry (Jennifer) Slaughter; nieces and nephews, Erin and Hayden Slaughter, Ryan and Kristin Slaughter, and Jonathan and Rachel Slaughter (their children, Charlie and Hardin); and cousin, Marilyn Benson.
