The effects of the drought that is plaguing much of the country are about to be felt here in the Wiregrass.
Due to poor corn crops, Midwest farmers are reducing their numbers of livestock and grocery store owners say prices are about to soar.
"This is something that has given us butterflies in our stomachs because we have no control over the weather. The drought out West is dictating the prices in the meat cases as far away as Alabama," said Chris Efurd, who owns Efurd's Grocery.
"Anything to do with animals will go up in price," said Efurd. "Your milk prices, produce prices, even dairy products like yogurt. Anything to do with corn."
