TROY, Ala. - Troy's middle of the lineup juggernaut of Danny Collins and Logan Pierce have taken their explosive offensive talents up North to the Northeast Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) this summer. Collins and Pierce both participated in the NECBL All-Star Game this past Sunday, while Collins has set the league's single-season home run record in addition to receiving several Player of the Week awards.

Collins, who will be a junior for the Trojans in 2013, broke the 15-year-old NECBL single-season home run record last week when he hit his 15th homer of the summer in just 36 games. Collins is currently tied for third in the NECBL batting at a .384 clip in the wood-bat league, while leading the league with a 1.242 OPS and .783 slugging percentage for the Laconia Muskrats.

The Niceville, Fla., native won the NECBL Home Run Derby Sunday afternoon before the league's All-Star Game. Collins, who finished second in the Sun Belt Conference Home Run Derby, opened with seven home runs in the first round and followed with five homers in the second round to claim the title.

Pierce, who will be a senior for the Trojans in 2013, earned his spot in the All-Star Game after batting at a .337 clip with nine doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs over 22 games for the Vermont Mountaineers. The Troy, Ala., native was 1-for-1 with an RBI and a walk to help lead the West squad to an 11-6 victory in the All-Star Game.

About the NECBL
The New England Collegiate Baseball League is summer baseball at its best. The NECBL was founded in 1993 under the leadership of Emmy Award-winning television producer/director Joseph Consentino, former St. John's University and Boston Red Sox minor league outfielder. George Foster, former Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets All-Star HR and RBI leader, was the NECBL's first Commissioner.

Play started in 1994 and today the NECBL has become a nationally recognized top-tier league that plays in all six New England states and recruits players attending U.S colleges from New England, the other forty-four States and foreign countries.
