Teachers and Social Media

It's a fine line for teachers on Facebook. Should they "friend" students, or shouldn't they? Educators got an answer to the highly debatable question Friday as they received a crash course in the do's and don'ts of social media.
It was all a part of the Alabama Education Association meeting held at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center in Dothan.
The course comes on the heels of several arrests in the Wiregrass from educators crossing the line on Facebook.
Ashley McClain with the Alabama Education Association said, There is a line there so don't blur it. Don't have students on your Facebook page. A teacher, like a coach is an authority figure and there needs to be a line between an authoritative figure and a friend and that's a line that doesn't need to be crossed."
