Floyd Henry Powell

Floyd Henry Powell of Enterprise, AL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.He was 77.

Funeral services will be at 10 am Friday, July 6 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Mynatt, Rev. Ernest Bailey and Rev. Randy Staumbaugh officiating.Burial with military honors will follow in the Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing.The family will receive friends at Sorrells Funeral Home Thursday from 6 until 8 pm.The body will be placed into the church one hour before service time.Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Gideons or to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Powell was born August 9, 1934 in Cordele, GA to the late Fred and LouV Woodard Powell.He was retired from the United States Air Force where he was an auto pilot technician and he was also retired as an engineer with Link Simulation.He was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Joan Hayes Powell, Enterprise; 3 daughters: Lou Ann Raetzke (Fred), Dothan, Lynda King (Lee), Marietta, GA, Susan Jones (Cecil), Enterprise; a sister, Dorothy Fore Jackson, Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Wallace Powell (Virginia), Jacksonville, FL; 6 grandchildren: Joshua, Jeremy, Kathryn, Amy, Matthew, and Carl; 2 great-grandchildren: Christopher and Kyle, and soon to arrive great-granddaughter, Kailee.
