Mr. Wallace George Cooley, Sr.

Mr. Wallace George Cooley, Sr. of Dothan died Tuesday, June 19, 2012. He was 69.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, June 22, 2012, at the Stone Hedge Farm.

 

The family will be receiving friends at Ward Wilson Funeral Home from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday, June 21, 2012. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens .

 

Mr. Cooley was born May 1, 1943, in Dothan, Alabama, the son of Blonnie Cooley and Lillie Pearl Jenkins Cooley. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Cooley was a graduate of Dothan High School in 1961, and Florida State University, and played varsity football. He was a Rotorian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on numerous Board of Directors of local civic organizations and Midsouth Bank. He was also a member of Delta Tau Delta Fat and a proud member of the Possum Den and host of Christmas Eve Fire Truck.

 

 He is preceded in death by his father, Blonnie Cooley.

 

Survivors include his wife, Luke Cooley of Dothan; mother, Lillie Pearl Cooley of Dothan; daughter, Marion Luke Cooley Carney and her husband, David of Marietta, GA; son, Wallace George Cooley, Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Tyndall Air Base, Panama City, FL; brother, Ronald Wilkins and his wife, Sarah of Dothan; grandchildren, Sion Wallace and Griffin James Cooley, and Olivia Luke Carney.
