Visit
Enterprise, partner of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, is asking
for citizen participation during a special event held in
conjunction with the Rand McNally/USA Today "Best of the Road"
Competition visit late next week. Enterprise has been selected as a
finalist in this annual national competition, and is the first city in
Alabama to be recognized by the Rand McNally/USA Today
Competition.
Tourism
officials are asking all citizens of Enterprise to show their
patriotism and spirit by visiting Downtown Enterprise on Thursday, June
28th,
2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. During this time frame, citizens are
asked to line the sidewalks of Downtown Enterprise, on Main Street, for a
patriotic classic car cruise-in, organized by the Weevil City Cruisers
and Milky Moo's of Enterprise.
"We
will be cruising onto East College Street, and parking near Milky Moo's
starting at 5:00 PM," Weevil City Cruisers organizer Don Doherty
explains, "After showing
our patriotic cars, we plan on having a parade running North to South on
Main Street starting at 7:00 PM. We invite the public to attend."
"This
even is a great way for the citizens of Enterprise and the surrounding
communities to come out and celebrate our status as being one of the
finalists in the
category of Most Patriotic Towns in the US," states Christy Elmore,
Tourism Director for Visit Enterprise, "We look forward to celebrating
with the road crew during this special time, and encourage citizen
participation during the cruise-in and parade."
Along
with the cruise-in, Milky Moo's will have special patriotic ice cream
sundaes, and patriotic themed ice cream for the evening's event. Many
other Downtown Enterprise
businesses will be open for extra hours, and invite you to shop.
Southern Broadway will present a limited engagement encore of their
"Song of My Heart" production with dessert only. Tickets are currently
still available, and the play will have local officials
and the Best of the Road team in attendance.
Citizens
who want to participate in the cruise-in and parade are asked to show
their patriotism by dressing in red, white, and blue. During the
cruise-in and parade,
the Best of the Road team will be visiting with citizens, and may be
video-taped or photographed to be used by local and national media.
Tourism
officials also remind citizens that the roads in Downtown Enterprise
will not be blocked off for the parade, and the parade will work into
regular traffic
patterns on Main Street.
