Students who attend public schools in Dothan will have more flexibility about what they wear to class.  The Board of Education Monday night approved modifications to the dress code.

Under the new code, students will be allowed to wear shirts of any color shirt provided it has a collar.  Previously, only certain colors could be worn.  In some cases, T-shirts can be worn but that requires approval from school administrators. Additionally, pants can have pockets and no belt is required provided the student's pants are not sagging.

"We've listened to everyone involved and made the changes," Superintendent Tim Wilder said.  He said the new regulations will soon be posted on the Dothan Schools website.

The news was welcomed by most parents---many of whom have not been happy with the previous dress code which was initiated four years ago.
