The University of Alabama softball team returned to Tuscaloosa just before noon Thursday, national champions.

A large crowd met the team at the airport. They were waving flags and holding signs.

The Crimson Tide is the first team from the SEC to win the title in softball.   The game was delayed by rain for almost three hours, Wednesday but finally got underway around 10p.m.  The Crimson Tide overcame an early 3-0 deficit to win 5-4.

Jackie Traina, the Tide's star sophomore pitcher, earned the MVP honor.

This is the fourth national championship for Alabama this year.   The football, gymnastics and women's golf teams also won titles.
