The second story of a building collapses in Freeport, trapping a man in the rubble.

The Freeport Fire Department says earlier Monday afternoon, demolition work was continuing at the old Piggly Wiggly grocery store on Highway 331.

According to authorities, the second story fell onto the first one, leaving a worker trapped under the structure.

It took about 30 minutes to get the equipment set up and to get him out safely.

He is listed in stable condition at this time.

The South Walton Fire District also aided in the rescue.

The building has been abandoned for years, but recently, a group purchased it and was making renovations.
