Ryan Benton Wins Class 1A-2A State Championship

Providence Christian star golfer Ryan Benton finished the Class 1A-2A Individual State Golf Championship runner-up in 2011. However, this year, he finally is bringing home the trophy.

The Eagles standout shot a +2, 74 during Tuesday's final round at Opelika's Grand National Golf Club, finishing with a two-day total of 143, good for -1 under par.

Benton won by five strokes over Shoals Christian standout Ben Wood.

Other Providence Christian golfers such as Jonathan Cheshire and Beau Scott finished in the top 10. Houston Academy's Chase Feagin made a top five result.

Providence Christian also beat Shoals Christian by 16 strokes to capture the 1A-2A Team State Championship.
