Possible Gang Activity Responsible For Jackson County Neighborhood

 The Jackson County Sheriff's office calls this the work of gangs.

Neighbors said they were out all day cleaning up the damage at the Indian Springs neighborhood. They said they are wondering how these vandals could have gotten so close.

"We've been out her all the morning cleaning up the mess. We've basically got a lot of this cleaned up now, but this morning it was all over the door," said Russell Bowling.

Painted symbols took over the garage and mailbox this morning at Russell Bowling's sister's home.

"Some of it was kind of gang related like a heart with ears on it, with a pitch fork on it, with a Star of David like devil worshipers," said Bowling.

The home is one of at least six homes tagged overnight Monday.

Jackson County Sheriff Lou Roberts said, while he's seen kid's mischief before, this graffiti job isn't child's play and it's quite possibly the work of gangs.

"This morning is probably the worst graffiti or anything related to graffiti gang related of any kind that we've seen in quite some time. These are the things that I consider more serious, quite a bit more serious than the usual maliciousness of a child," said Roberts.

With paint on bricks, doors, garages and mailboxes, the amount of damage could add up fast.

"It's something that very likely when the dollar figure is added up will exceed a felony about amount," said Roberts.

Meanwhile, brother, Russell Bowling, says he's feeling a little more protective, knowing vandals were so close overnight.

"They had no business even being in the yard, much less what they were doing," he added.

Roberts also said a string of mailbox bashing's over the weekend could also be connected to these incidents.
