Ryan Benton Has the Lead at 1A-2A Golf Championship

Ryan Benton is one round away from winning the Class 1A-2A Individual State Golf Championship. The Providence Christian standout shot a three under, 69 in the opening round at Grand National Golf Course in Opelika.

He holds a four-stroke lead with 18 holes left over Red Bay's Austin Sparks.

Jonathan Cheshire, Benton's teammate is currently in 5th place after shooting a 77. The Eagles are in prime position to win the Team State Championship as well. The squad has shot 23 over on opening day.

PC leads St. Luke's by 15 strokes.
