Testimony will resume Friday morning in a lawsuit brought by a Dothan principal who was essentially fired when his contract was not renewed. Greg Yance, principal of Girard Middle School, contends his termination was due to political and personal reasons.
Witnesses testified that Yance was a good administrator. Some of those recently supported the veteran educator when they appeared before the school board to endorse the job he has done. The Girard website shows Yance has been principal there since 2005.
Yance and Northview Principal Ron Snell sued after their contracts were non-renewed. Snell later dropped his lawsuit---three days before being hired hired as principal of Opp High School.
Those named as defendants are Superintendent Tim Wilder, the six members of the Dothan Board of Education, and others.
The case is being heard by retired Circuit Judge Denny Holloway.
