Lawmakers Pass Measure Cracking Down On Looting

A bill making The bill was crafted after last year's April 27th tornadoes.looting a crime in Alabama is headed to Governor Bentley for his signature.The Alabama Senate voted unanimously Thursday to approve the bill.

The bill was crafted after last year's April 27th tornadoes. Law enforcement found that regular property crime laws such as burglary did not work well. That's because many buildings were knocked down, leaving property scattered on the ground.

Under the bill, looting laws would only be in effect when the Governor has declared a state of emergency.
