A lawsuit brought by Northview High School principal Ron Snell challenging his termination has been dismissed. The matter was dropped at the request of Snell whose attorney filed a motion seeking dismissal.
Thomas K. Brantley, who represents Snell, said in the filing his client "no longer wants to pursue this litigation." A letter written from Snell to his counsel, and filed with the court, stated "Please accept this as a formal request to end my appeal of the Dothan City Schools decision to non-renew my contract." A judge granted the motion.
Snell and Girard Middle School principal Greg Yance did not have their contracts renewed by the Board of Education during a March 26 meeting. A lawsuit filed by Yance against Superintendent Tim Wilder and board members remains active, according to court documents. The reasons given for Snell's termination were poor management and lack of communications. Both men claimed their terminations were for "personal or political" reasons.
Snell recently sought election as Superintendent of Education in Geneva County but was defeated.
