Mr. Noel D. Chancellor, Jr. of County Road 72, Chancellor, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was 93.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, in the El Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. LaDon Chancellor and Rev. Tim Gordan officiating. Mr. Chancellor will be placed into the church one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, April 26, from 6 until 8 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the El Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 506, Chancellor, AL 36316.
Mr. Chancellor was born December 18, 1918, in Geneva County to the late Noel, Sr. and Lucille Merritt Chancellor. He lived in the same area his entire life. After several years of service he retired from Bama Cotton Mill in Enterprise. He enjoyed farming and continued to maintain his farm until his health began to fail. He was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church for a number of years.
In addition to his parents, his wife Iva Chancellor, and a son, James "Boots" Chancellor, as well as three brothers: James W., Daniel and Dan Chancellor, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Reeves (Ronnie); one son, Charles Chancellor (Carolyn), all of Chancellor; daughter-in-law, Shirley Chancellor Tucker, Geneva; eight grandchildren: Ladon Chancellor (Donna), Cindy Morris (Johnny), Angie Rawden (Eric), Gwen Gilley, Ron Reeves (Mary), Shonda Phillips (Lee), Susie Smith (Quent) and Samantha Adams (Jamie); 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ron Reeves, Alec Reeves, Derrek Thompson, Dexter Gilley and John Michael Morris.
