Mary Linda Buckalew Bedwell

Mary Linda Buckalew Bedwell, 63, of Dothan died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, April 13, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Free officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6pm until 8pm.

Mrs. Bedwell was born December 27, 1948 in Miami, FL and resided the early part of her life in Daleville, AL. She was a 1968 graduate of Daleville High School where she performed as part of the Majorettes. She attended Wallace Community College and received her nursing degree in 1976. She was employed for over 17 years with Dr. Herbert Gannon and for over 10 years at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was also employed with Extendicare Health and Rehab prior to her retirement in 2000. Linda was an avid Alabama Football fan and loved her Tennessee Walking Horses, fishing, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She attended Bethel Baptist Church and Rehobeth Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bedwell was preceded in death by her parents W.D. and Serena Buckalew, her brother William Johnny Buckalew, her sister Elizabeth Buckalew.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie Bedwell, Dothan; her son Paul (Kari) McLean, Dothan; her daughter, Lynn (Matt) Owens, Dothan; 7 grandchildren, Morgan, John Dalton, Madison, and Reagan McLean, Taylor, Dylan, and Dustin Owens; a brother Donald (Becky) Buckalew, Tampa, FL; an uncle J.W. and Janie Hatcher, Dothan; several cousins, nieces and nephews including Liz and Dr. Doug Baska, Dade City, FL and Charles Buckalew, Tampa, FL.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Hartzell, Kevin Hartzell, Paul Bracewell, Horace Lisenby, Derek Snellgrove, Matt Owens and Brendan Patton.
