Excitement Dominates 35th Annual Special Olympics

The victory earns her a blue ribbon for the 50 yard dash. Her dad is proud. "To see her surrounded by her peers having such a good time-- it's a wonderful day," Dennis King said.
Shay is just one of more than 250 special needs athletes competing at the 35th Annual Dothan/Houston County Special Olympics.
"Y'all better move out of my way," Special Olympian Vicki Freeman shouts as the prepares to throw a softball.
Moving is not a bad idea because she has quite an arm. "Is this your first time out here or have you been before," WDHN News asked Vicky. "I come out here last year," she replied.
"I won this and this and this and this and this and this today," Special Olympian Lisa Williams said pointing the the ribbons pinned to her shirt.
"Seeing all these little kids doing what they can even if they are in wheelchairs is great," parent Hollie Hobbs.
