The Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center is becoming the house of horrors for the Barbour County Boys Basketball Team. For the second time in four years, the Jaguars blew a large lead in the fourth quarter, losing in the Class 2A State Title Game.

Tanner overcame an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter on Thursday night, beating Barbour County 54-51 for the 2A championship. R.C. Hatch came back from 20 points down to beat the Jaguars for the 2A crown back in 2008.

Mistakes were the culprit this time, as the Jaguars committed 27 turnovers on the night. Tanner took advantage, turning those Jaguar miscues into the school's first state title since 1986.

The Tanner Girls Basketball Team also won the 2A championship this year, giving the Limestone County school a season sweep. The Tanner Girls' last title also came in 1986.

Matt Hines scored 20 points to lead the Rattlers, including two free throws in the final minute to give Tanner the lead for good. Takwain Whigham led Barbour County with 13 points, as the Jaguars ended their season with a 30-5 record.
