Tuscaloosa Approves Sunday Sale Of Alcohol

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: February 22, 2011

Voters in Tuscaloosa have overwhelmingly said "yes" to Sunday alcohol sales. More than 8,500 people voted "yes" for Sunday sales. Only about 2,500 said "no." In every single precinct there were twice as many ''yes'' votes than "no" votes.

Turnout at the polls appeared low throughout the day. However, a large number of young voters also cast ballots.

The victory means that alcohol can now be sold on Sundays starting March sixth. The city council will decide which types of businesses can have Sunday sales.
