Marianna Police Arrest Michael James On Numerous Charges

On January 27 2011 Officers with the Marianna Police Department came in contact with a black male, identified as Michael James, on Old Cottondale Road just west of Penn Avenue. Officers had knowledge of James’ community control status. James was currently required to remain at his approved residence.

Officers attempted to place James under arrest for Violation of State Probation. Upon Officers attempting the arrest, James struck an Officer in the upper torso area, in a pushing manner. James then fled the area on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, to a nearby wooded area located behind the business of Comcast, which is located on Penn Avenue. Officers were able to restrain James without further incident.

After James was processed at the Jackson County Correctional Facility, James was found to be concealing marijuana in his pants. James is currently booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
