The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) today announces the arrest of Patrick Ethan Johnson, 46, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., for possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance.

Johnson contacted the WCSO yesterday at approximately 11:42 p.m. alleging that his vehicle was being monitored by a government agency.  Deputies were dispatched to Johnson’s location at 10685 West Highway 98 where he granted them access to search his vehicle for suspicious materials.

Deputies conducted a criminal history record check on Johnson after unspent ammunition was discovered inside his vehicle.  He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Walton County Jail.

Johnson faces additional charges after deputies recovered a handgun from inside his vehicle and a correctional officer recovered a powdery substance from his wallet.  The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamines.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
