Leonard Lester Hines, Sr., a resident of Columbia, AL, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at his residence. He was 71.
Mr. Hines was born on January 29, 1939 in Ypsilanti, MI and spent the early years of his life in Adrian, MI. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and spent 23 years in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Dothan in 1981 and worked for Farley Nuclear Plant for 13 years. Mr. Hines moved to Columbia in 1986 and was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, MA and the Masonic Lodge in Ashford.
Survivors include his wife Bettie Hines of Columbia; a son Leonard Lester Hines, Jr. and his wife Leslie of Birmingham, AL; a daughter Virginia Lynn Hines of Dothan; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Childs, Brandi Hines, Rachel Bonner, Jason Hines, Jeremy Sedor, Jessica Sedor and Joshua Sedor; 2 great-grandchildren, Lorna Howard and Savannah Howard; a brother Kenny Hines of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews also survive.
