Ms. Betty Jo Braswell Kirkland

Ms. Betty Jo Braswell Kirkland of Geneva, Alabama went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 12, 2010. She was 74.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Hospice Chaplain Roger Stone and Rev. Phillip Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Leddon Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, July 16, from 6 until 8 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 105 Whaley St., Opp, AL 36467.
Ms. Kirkland was born November 16, 1935, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late James Yarbrough and Josephine LouElla “Lula” Howell Braswell. She was a 1953 graduate of Geneva High School. Ms. Betty was employed with Wiregrass Medical Center for several years and at the time of her sickness she was employed at Greenwood Assisted Living Facility. She had the honor of being the first health aide for Geneva County. She thoroughly enjoyed her work because she just simply loved to help people. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church and was a very loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, two brothers, Huston and Charles “Bo” Braswell, three grandsons, Gary Siggers, Codie McCormick and Jonathon Stone, as well as a brother-in-law, Pete Paige, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Randy Lavoy (Lori) Kirkland, Geneva, AL; three daughters: Callie Faye (Jimmie) Bryan, Westville, FL, Rhonda Jo Stone, Geneva, AL, Mary Janet McCormick, Niceville, FL; one brother, James (Mary Lou) Braswell, Tampa, FL; three sisters: Rosa Etta Paige, Clarkston, GA, Dorothy Jean (Holland) Vaughan, Gainsville, FL, Oneida (Gene) Gentry, Cummings, GA; sister-in-law, Betty Willis Braswell, Sebring, FL; five grandchildren, Calvin (Jennifer) Bryan, Callie Siggers, Hope McCormick, Krystal (Caleb) Tyler, Randi Leigh Kirkland; three great-grandchildren, Caleb & Lailah Bryan, Jonathan Burgess; two special friends, Robert Seay, Geneva, AL and David McCormick, Niceville, FL; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends
