Mrs. Sandy Sheets Yates, a resident of Cowarts, passed away Saturday morning, July 3, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 78.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Sigler officiating. A private burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 P. M. on Saturday prior to service time. Flowers will be accepted.
Mrs. Yates was born July 16, 1931 in Jenkins Jones, West Virginia. She was employed with Beneficial Finance Company for twenty years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Dothan. She spent her life dedicated to her husband and three daughters. Her greatest gift was encouraging others to live life to its fullest. Her gracious spirit is a legacy to her family and friends.
Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bill Yates. Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Yates Sigler and husband Mike of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Karol Yates Moore and husband Neil of Bonaire, GA; and Dotti Yates of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren are Matthew and Shannon Sigler, Elisabeth and Nathan Brown, David Sigler, Drew Moore, and Molly Moore. byrdfuneralhome.com
