Just hours after a Dothan man was sentenced to community corrections for possession of child pornography... questions are being asked about the sentence.

Thursday former attorney Randy Brackin was ordered to 13 months in the Community Corrections program.

But the director of the program says state law prohibits people convicted of lewd acts upon children. Gary Knight says that includes people convicted on child porn charges. He says the program allows for community interaction, something he says a sex offender should not have.

"I wouldn't feel comfortable with it plus it's strictly prohibited by the law. We will do what the court asks and demands us to do and anything imposed on an inmate we will comply with... but we can not break the law or be ordered to take someone who is strictly prohibited by the law," Community Corrections Director Gary Knight said.

Houston County District Attorney Doug Valeska says the main question is whether possessing the images meets the exclusion criteria. Valeska-- who asked for stiff jail time-- says it's now up to Circuit Judge PB Mclauchlin as for what happens next.

WDHN News tried to contact Mclauchlin-- our calls were not returned. Meanwhile Brackin is free on an appeals bond.
