James
Clarence (Jim) Wright, Jr., a resident of State Highway 95, North,
Abbeville, died Tuesday morning, June 22, 2010, at his home. He was 73.
Funeral
services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Thursday, June 24, 2010, in the
Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Singletary, Reverend Gerald
Ross and Reverend Danny Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in the
church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral
arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P. M.
Wednesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial
contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, ACS Memorial
Chairperson, 423 Caravella Drive, Dothan, AL. 36305.
Mr.
Wright was born and reared in Savannah, Georgia, son of the late James
Clarence Wright, Sr. and Lorena Harvey Wright. He received a degree in
Business Administration from Rutgers University and served his country
in the Air National Guard. Mr. Wright formerly lived in Tallahassee and
Dothan before moving to the Screamer community in Henry County in 2007.
He was a member of the Judson Baptist Church and was a former member of
the Cloverdale Baptist Church in Dothan where he served as a Deacon. Mr.
Wright was retired as the owner and operator of GAF Sales of Dothan and
Abbeville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Daniel.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Danie
Watford Wright, Abbeville; two daughters, Kelly Ann Wills and husband,
Lance, Abbeville; Toni Myers and husband, James, Tallahassee, FL; three
sons, Mackey Sasser and wife, Terra, Dothan; Randy Sasser and wife,
Anda, Abbeville; and James Clarence Wright, III, Atlanta; a sister,
Margaret Odom, Overland Park, KS.; a brother, Jack Wright and wife, Bo
Peep, Lake Toxaway, N.C.; grandchildren, Pamela Barnes and husband,
Jeremy, Talia Mills and husband, Gene, Mannon Wills and wife, Ashley,
Zachary Wills and wife, Amanda, Christopher Sasser, Madison Sasser,
Danyel Sasser, Gabe Wills, Sabaian Sasser, Creed Sasser, Max Burgeen,
Kennedy Burgeen, Taran Sumner, Greg Sumner, Collin Aldridge, Amber Loper
and Garrett Bracewell; great-grandchildren, Carter, Jorja and Addison
Barnes, Alexa and Lilly Dane Mills, Alexis Marie Wills, Taylor and
Mannon O.Wills, IV and Lilia Grace Archuletta.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Greg Sumner, Gene Mills, Jeremy Barnes, Chris Sasser, Gabe Wills, Jeremy Watford, Max Smith and Ron Meadows.
