Suicide Threat Ends Peaceably In Coffee County

watch video

A man who threatened to commit suicide was taken into custody Friday morning.

Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton said that Vincent Favale was taken before a judge for a mental competency hearing following an all-night standoff at a house on County Road 708 near the Geneva County line. Numerous law officers--including the Houston County Sheriff's SWAT Team--were called to the scene around 10 p.m. Thursday. The operation ended shortly after 8 a.m. Friday when Favale left the house and ran through the woods. Officers chased him down shortly after that.

Sutton said Favale was holed up in the house with an AR-15 rifle and two handguns--but no shots were ever fired and no one was injured.
